A coastal kind of weekend

J. and I spent Saturday up in Big Sur.  It was such a beautiful day.  We brought the dogs and had a great time!  Below are a few of the things we saw.

San Diego Trip

Hi friends!  Today I thought I'd post a few pictures from my San Diego trip last week.  If you've been following on Twitter, you have already seen these, but for those who haven't, here is a little peek into my trip.  Enjoy!

On the road near Ventura.  What a gorgeous day!

View of PetCo Park from downtown near the harbor.
J. and I went over to Balboa Park and walked around.  We always love checking out the Arboretum.

On Thursday, I went and visited Danni at the Oh, Hello Friend booth at UCSD.  Such a sweet gal.  And I came home with a few new treasures!

We went to a game at PetCo Park on Friday.  Padres vs. Brewers.  Padres won 3-0!

A "jellyfish" installation at the Mingei International Museum.

There was a mime in there, too, "swimming" amongst the jellyfish!

On the way home, we stopped in Marina del Rey and visited some family friends on their boat.  We took a little ride out to sea and back.  Such a great way to end the trip!

I hope you all had a good weekend!

*On a side note, I've been under the weather and went to the doctor today only to find out I have an upper respiratory infection, an ear infection, and a mild chase of bronchitis.  I don't know how it all snuck up on me at once!  Needless to say, I might be posting a bit less this week, but hopefully, next week, I'll be well and back in full post mode.  I hope you all have a great week!

xo,
Kayla

...and I'm off!

Hello friends!  Today is an exciting day as J. and I are heading down to San Diego!  He has a work conference to attend, so I decided to tag along.  So, while he's stuck at the Convention Center, I'll be out gallivanting around town.  Boo for him, fun for me!

I went to college at SDSU, so, of course, I have list of a slew of fun places to go and things to do.  I decided to share said list of my top things I like to do, see, and eat when I am in the city.  If you have any other recommendations, feel free to share them in the comments below.

A visit to Extraordinary Desserts is mandatory.

I always enjoy the great prices and delicious rolls at Sushi Deli 2

I was introduced to Con Pane last time I visited town.  Their Turkey Cobb Sandwich is THE BEST!  Totally hooked.

I'm really looking forward to checking out both Mara De Luca's installation and Lærke Lauta's video installation at MCASD downtown.  Best part?  FREE.

We have tickets to a San Diego Padres game on Friday night.  Our night out also coincides with Beer Fest at Padres Staduim.  I can't think of anything more American than that.

I think I'll spend a good chunk of one day at Balboa Park.  They have a day pass that's gains you admission to any 5 museums for $35.  I might have to take advantage of it.  the Natural History Museum is my favorite.

Ken Grill has the best "fusion" fried calamari.

A visit to the Oh, Hello Friend booth at the UCSD Vendor Fair is on the agenda.

I've been told to go check out Wind and Sea Beach in La Jolla.  This is one I have never actually been to.  I'm hoping its sunny this week so I can enjoy some time in the sun with a good book and the sound of the waves.

I might even try and get in a spin class at the Arc (try being the operative word here).

I have to get a slice at Bronx.  Best pizza in town.  Yes, apparently I like to gain back all the calories that I have just worked off.

While I'm at it, I might as well go for a beer at Shakespeare's Pub.  What, you haven't been there?  Go. Now.  (They also have a rockin' blue cheese burger.  Mmmm....)

Annnnd, I have to ride the trolley.  Total dork, I know, but I love it.

Other than that, I'm looking forward to spending time with my Aunt, Uncle, and cousin and soaking up all the city life I can before we head back home.

The Happy Jetsetter: Vegas Baby!

I just booked my flight to Vegas for a dear friend's bachelorette party!  Having never been (I know!), you can imagine how excited I am.  I thought I'd put together a little list of must haves for this super fun weekend.  Did I miss anything crucial?!  Let me know in the comments below.

Here's what I plan to do in Las Vegas:

Pack it all up in a fabulous suitcase

Hit the clubs in a flirty dress.

Glam it up with a little lipstick.

Wear a little black mascara. Well, maybe a lot.

I'll be packin'. Mints, that is.

Try not to fall off a pair of super high heels.

Ok, maybe more then one pair of high heels.

Catch a quick catnap (or not).
Nurse my hangover by the pool in a bright bikini.

Keep the sun away with a sassy fedora.

Don a classic pair of sunglasses.

Toss on a bright necklace.

Tote a teeny tiny HD video camera to catch all the debauchery on film.  Blackmail anyone?

You know what would top off this ensemble?  The yellow "Oh Welloy" necklace that is being given away by the Oh Henry shop on my blog!  Hop on over and enter to win it here.
