monday eye candy

Over the weekend, J. and I went to The Huntington Gardens in Pasadena.  We could have easily spent hours in there wandering around and taking pictures.  I think of all the different gardens, I loved the succulent and cactus garden the best (big surprise, right?).  I took a few snaps of some of the centers of different specimens.  I love how architectural they look up close like this.  And I think the pictures came out not too bad for all being taken on my Blackberry.

We also stopped at Enjoy Cupcakes in Los Olivos on the way down.  If you're ever in that neck of the woods, you MUST make a stop at Enjoy.  I got to chat with Kevin for a few, which was great.  Man, what a nice guy.  And the cupcakes?  I had a pomegranate-mimosa cupcake and an apple cinnamon cupcake.  One word: Nom.

It's Monday.  The weather is gorgeous and sunny.  I am inside "working" (shouldn't work be illegal on days like today?) and listening to a pre-release of Katy Perry's Teenage Dream.  Originally I was going to post a little photo set that was inspired by long, summer days, but I was cruising around Flickr and came across Olivia Bee.  I think today was the perfect day to stumble across this girl's work (she's only 16!), because while listening to Teenage Dream and looking through Olivia's photo stream, I can almost imagine I'm a teenager again.  Almost.  If only I could get outside.

Sisters

This is my sister and me.  We have fun together.  Like jumping off walls and eating lots of carbs for breakfast (and lunch....and dinner).  It's good to have a sister.

Photobooth Fun

J. and I went to a wedding over the weekend and they had a great photo booth!  We had too much fun taking pictures.  It reminded us of when we were first dating and took some pictures at the Mid State Fair (back in '01 and '02).  Putting my embarrassment aside over how goofy we look in our younger days, I present to you our photo booth pics.  Hopefully this won't come back to haunt me later.  :)

Rustic Vintage Engagement Session

Hi happy readers!  I have some serious eye candy for you today.  My BFF is getting married this summer and I have been having so much fun designing all her paper goodies, wedding website, and helping with the wedding as her maid of honor (yes, I am married, so technically, I am a "matron of honor", but that just sounds old, so I'm rolling with "maid").

This deliciously sweet engagement session was shot by the super talented Weston Neuschafer.  Marni and Brandon are getting married this summer and wanted an engagement shoot that reflected their sweet love of vintage (her: vintage dresses and shoes, him: vintage cameras).  Marni styled the whole shoot (I know!  Aren't you just dying over those yellow dreses?!) and it came out beautifully, which is not surprising when the equation reads "2 beautiful people + talented photographer + gorgeous setting = Uh-mazing Shoot".  The shoot took place in various locations in San Luis Obispo county and between the blooming flowers and those fantastic, puffy clouds, I am seriously swooning.

Feeling like a little sun and color these days!  Might have to take a trip to Palm Springs to see all this fabulousness in person.  I'm thinking this might inspire my summer 2010 stationery collection.  Only time will tell.

What inspired you today?

Smallable

Now, those of you who know me know that I'm not really into kid stuff (or kids for that matter, but that's a whole other conversation, really).  HOWEVER, I came across this site on Sunday and the first thing that popped into my head was "Oh, wow!  If I had a kid, I would totally want to shop here!"  

I think that Smallable appeals to the kid in me more than wanting to have a kid to dress up and buy for, though.  I look at all their super stylish products and wish that I could find a bottle marked "Drink Me" and spend a pint sized day enjoying all the modern goodies that Smallable has to offer.

They also have a "Look Book" for kids with fabulous product styling and photography, and, as a designer, I can't ever resist a good look book.

It's been raining here.

Buckets.

Thunder and lightening, too.

Unusual for southern California.

But plants are happy...

...and I am happy at home in front of a fire with J. and the pups.

Baby, it's cold outside.

The weather has turned chilly around these parts, which makes me want to do one of two things: head inside and bundle up with a mug of hot cider or gear up and head to the snow for some serious sledding. These images taken by my friend Lauren make me want to do the latter.
